admissions Testing

Below, you'll find a summary of upcoming test dates for the SHSAT, ISEE, and SSAT entrance exams. If you'd like to inquire about test prep sessions, essay assistance, or application help in general, please don't hesitate to contact us.

SHSAT

SHSAT testing for 8th and 9th grade students is limited to August! You'll need to reach out to HSEnrollment@schools.nyc.gov to register for a test date. For more information regarding NYC Specialized High Schools or setting up a MySchools account, you can visit https://www.schools.nyc.gov/enrollment/enroll-grade-by-grade/specialized-high-schools or call (718) 935-2009.

ISEE

ISEE exams are made available both in-person and at home. Visit the registration page and select the option that works best for you to see the available dates. (Please note students in grades 2-4 may have to select New York as their state to view at home testing options.) The test usually ranges from $125-235 depending on the location and date.

You'll be able to view dates for all three testing seasons: Fall, Winter, and Spring/Summer. It's usually recommended that students give themselves enough time to take the test twice. (Knowing a second test date could be scheduled will alleviate pressure and lead to a better performance. Often, students will perform better on the first test and actually decide there's no need to schedule a second date if they have a more relaxed test experience the first time!)

SSAT

The two most standard options for the SSAT include paper and at home test. Regardless of which method you choose, you will want to explore setting up an EMA account to register for this test. Rates for this test can also vary, and there are fee waiver programs available.

You can view upcoming dates for all levels of the SSAT paper test at this page. Please note the deadline for registration is usually a couple weeks before the test, so you'll need to plan ahead! Availability will vary depending on your closest test center, which you can find here.

For those seeking at home test, you can view upcoming dates at this page. While the registration deadline for at home tests is only 72 hours in advance, we recommend signing up earlier. This will ensure that there is still availability remaining for that test date, and give you time to be confirm you've met the technological requirements.

If neither of these options will work for you, then we recommend exploring Flex Test options and emailing info@ssat.org for assistance.
